Well-Deserved Honour for Rev. Fred Demaray

CCSAC congratulates Rev. Fred Demaray, retired minister of First Baptist Church, on his recent receipt of the Meritorious Service Cross (Civil Division) in recognition of his many years of activity as a leader in Ottawa’s interfaith activities.  This was awarded December 13th by Her Excellency Governor General Mary Simon at a ceremony at Rideau Hall.  The citation reads:  “Over the past 20 years, Fred Demaray has been involved in Ottawa’s interfaith community, focusing on issues related to hospitals, long-term care, secondary education, affordable housing and ecumenical structures.  Through the Multifaith Housing Initiative, he has engaged faith leaders to take action on affordable housing and social justice.”
